Welcome

Our History:

Leticia and Hector Romero came to the United States in 1979 from Mexico City and settled in East Los Angeles. Despite the language barrier and limited employment opportunities, Leticia and Hector raised four children on a single income, who each eventually pursued higher education. Their four children, Giovanna, Jonathan, Adhemir, and Leisha, are all Wilson High School graduates. The Romero Family would like to offer a special thanks to Mrs. Gutierrez- Aviles for her guidance and support throughout the years.

A Message from the First Generation:

Our parents instilled in us the importance of education from an early age. Every one of our teachers, from preschool to senior year, knew our parents and they knew them well. They never failed to attend a parent conference, never expected anything less than what they knew we were capable of, and most importantly, never allowed the words “I can’t” or “no puedo” into our vocabulary. They encouraged our involvement in school activities and athletics, from which we gained discipline, strength, and a higher purpose. We cannot fully express the amount of gratitude and appreciation we hold for our parents, without whom our success would not be possible. This scholarship we offer to you serves as a testament of the grand achievements that can arise from hard work, determination, self-discipline, and an undeniable desire to succeed, in spite of the hardships bestowed upon you. This is the start of us giving back to our community. With this, we hope to inspire future generations and hope that they too will appreciate the value of the sacrifices their family has made for their education. To those who were told they couldn’t do it and did, this is our gift to you.
